The list of links below is not meant to
be an exhaustive list of every palm or cycad related site on the web, but
rather a list of the sites we at Kapoho Palms find to be the most useful
and thus the ones we visit often. Please send us your
suggestions of other sites which you like and think we should add
here.

The Virtual Palm
Encyclopedia (VPE)
http://www.plantapalm.com/vpe/vpe_index.htm
Brought to you by Jody Haynes and the
Palm and Cycad Society of Florida (PACSOF), this useful and comprehensive
collection of palm information for beginner and expert alike is a natural
complement to the Cycad Encyclopedia listed below. Both sites have
articles on horticulture and botany as well as a huge collection of
photos.

The Virtual Cycad Encyclopedia
(VCE)
http://www.plantapalm.com/vce/vce_index.htm
Like the Virtual Palm Encyclopedia
listed above, this site is also brought to you by Jody Haynes and the
PACSOF. It has a useful collection of cycad info and is a natural
complement to the VPE. The articles by Tom Broome on cultivation are
superb.

Palm and Cycad Societies of
Australia (PACSOA) http://www.pacsoa.org.au/index.html
A very useful and well laid out web
site with loads of photos and information for both palm and cycad
growers. The site has many detailed articles from the PACSOA journal,
"Palms & Cycads”, but it is particularly valuable for its
comprehensive collection of photos of both palms and cycads.

The Cold-Rating Database,
with search section
A source of critical information for
most growers. We believe in pushing the limits of hardiness wherever
possible and have found this site to be of invaluable assistance in our
quest to grow palms and cycads everywhere. It also covers other varieties
of tropical plants.

The
International Palm Society
http://www.palms.org/
The name says it all. A worthy
organization, great palm photos, tours to palm gardens worldwide, palm
links of all kinds and descriptions, and more. Visit the site and join
the society (and your local chapter too).
|
|
The
Cycad Society
http://www.cycad.org/
Another worthy organization. Their web
site is a useful resource and already has a good set of cycad photos
posted. Visit the site and join the society.

The Rainforest Site
http://www.therainforestsite.com/
Save the rainforest FOR FREE!! This is not a hoax. If you visit this
site you will see ads from its sponsors. In exchange for showing you
these ads, these sponsors will make a donation to the Nature Conservancy
to be used to buy land in the rainforest. You can get credit for one
visit each day, so be sure to visit regularly. Right now, each visit
saves about 20 sq. feet of rainforest, but each of those parcels adds up,
especially if you visit the site every day.
